Lung Cancer – An Injurious Type of Cancer
Lung cancer has become one of most widespread cancers in the world among both the men and women. It is caused due to presence of tumor in the cell lining inside lung. Lung cancer is divided into two types that include Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC) and small cell lung cancer (SCLC). The former type can be treated with a surgery while the later is treated with chemotherapy or radiation.
The main symptoms that suggest lung cancer include breathing difficulties weight loss and chronic coughing or sometimes even coughing up blood. The main factors that cause lung cancer include the carcinogens, ionizing radiation and sometimes viral infections.
The carcinogens are found in great number in tobacco smoke, and due to this large number of smokers have cancers in their lungs. But in about 15% of cases, a lung cancer is caused to non-smokers also. The main reason behind this the passive smoking or secondhand smoking. Therefore, the most immediate thing to do in order to prevent lung cancer is to ban smoking at least at public spots. Not only this, but the government should also ban advertisement of tobacco that attract younger people towards smoking.
Lung cancer is mostly caused in elder that are above 65 years of age but still 3% of lung cancers is reported in people less than 45 years of age. The treatment of lung cancer does not only depend upon the type of lung cancer but also upon how far cancer has spread and at what stage it is.
